David Cassidy: My New Obsession

Day 3 of the 30-day Blogging Challenge

By Staingirl Kaye

Elle, I concede, that is a pretty sexy video of Donny Osmond on Day 2 of the 30-day Blogging Challenge. He did a scorching Argentine Tango on Dancing With The Stars. However, nobody can come close to exciting such overwhelming lust as the young David Cassidy of the early 70s.

OK Ladies. To rise to Elle’s 30-day Blogging Challenge, I’m going to have to combine it with what I’ve been doing for pure pleasure lately. Ready for a little decadence?

Who out there is or was a David Cassidy fan? Remember him? The most wanted man on the planet in the early 70s!!! Just this summer I saw the C’Mon Get Happy movie for the first time, even though it came out in 1999. I was completely stunned by this story. How David Cassidy was catapulted to such fame in such a short period of time by the Partridge Family, how he feared for his life every time he went out in public, how isolated he became. What WAS it about him that caused so many to go completely crazy with desire??

So, on to the internet I went, and oh, what a journey it’s been!! There is so much out there about David Cassidy. YouTube videos, websites, forums. The David Cassidy fans are as present and fervent as ever.

It didn’t take me long to figure out what all the fuss was about. OMG!!! The man was an adolescent Adonis, and as far as I can tell he has not been equaled or surpassed since, and may never be. Those heavily lashed seductive green eyes, that hair and face the shag was invented for, and those jumpsuits worn as a second skin on his lithe body. As if that wasn’t enough, he had this velvety voice that crooned breathy and honey sweet those love songs that swooned legions of shrieking girls. And then for many, there was Keith Partridge, that sweet, innocent, super cute puppy dog character they loved to watch on Friday nights at 8:30.

If you dare to sneak a peak, here’s something for you to feast your eyes and ears on. ;-)

Many thanks to keithyoong for creating this video:

How could I have missed this craze?? Another post.

I hope this has put a smile on your face. Have a great day!!! :-)

  • Oh, yeah, that put a smile on my face. That video you posted was one of the first ones I saw on YT at the beginning of my journey of DC re-discovery. Dropped jaw, shivers down the spine, tingling you know where, over and over I hit replay. Found his live performance of this song so electrifying that I actually posted on Freecyle* requesting any seventies memorabilia on him. Got one reply from a woman thanking me for reviving great memories and another was a simple “David Cassidy? Seriously?” Gee, remind you of anyone? :-) To which I replied and will continue to reply, I’m sure, “Seriously.” Loved your post. Keep blogging girls!

Thanks Daydreaming David, and for your very evocative description of your reaction!!! I can appreciate that!! :-) That video never seems to grow old for me. I’m so glad you enjoyed that. And thanks for the info about Freecycle!! I didn’t know about it.

Hello. That bum wiggle should come with Public Health Warning! This was the concert in White City Stadium, London where so many girls got crushed in a frenzy. If it can get us worked up, no wonder he had that effect on young girls! Back then our idols were more like demi-Gods.

British Fan, you’re a woman after my own heart!! I love that!!! I’m saving up all these wonderfully fun metaphors, along with who said them. I love going back and rereading them, esp. when I find occasion to use them in a blog post.

I know, I can’t imagine being young and so … stimulated. LOL!!! These video clips of him in concert are impressive!!!

Just a hint (or public health warning), I think you’ll like the post tomorrow. :-) ))))))
