So now DD and BF, I can see your point about the stuff he has had to put up with that perhaps other idols have not, or at least not to this extent? That has got to be really unnerving in and of itself, plus he has to deal with all the other more mainstream distractions simultaneously. It does make you appreciate what he IS able to put up with. There was a very angry poster on DavidForever awhile ago, you may remember, in response to the people posting about their bad experiences with him. Wow, she really unleashed her wrath on fans with her recounts of their numerous indiscretions!! Now this makes more sense to me.

I might be a bit harsh about the whole thing. I don't want to judge these fans; it's just that I have trouble understanding their behavior. At fifteen, yes. They threw him teddy bears back then and fainted. I'd be among the fainting too. But now? Never mind. I don't understand their behavior and I'll leave it at that.

British fan, I knew that about Hear'Say and while they all have good voices, David's really stands out, doesn't it? Glad to see you back, btw.

Hi British Fan!!! These are wonderful comments. I had no idea about the Front Row girls. I'm going to have to read up on that. Sorry, Daydreaming David, now that I'm aware of these infamous ladies, I can understand your comments about them better. I'd still like to see more live footage of the FFGs at work. LOL!!!!

Hi Singme and DD I'm back online.
I prefer the THEN vocal but that's because it can't be bettered.

FYI Hearsay were the first ever winners of the Pop Idol reality thing in the UK. Reality TV has a lot to answer for! You find yourself paying attention whenever David sings but he's brilliant at blending his voice in with others.

As for the now, I see he does have a sense of humour! I don't mind a bit of banter as long as the main course of the show is singing. I've been scanning back a few pages on Cmongethappy to find out info on David and it seems these ladies are known at Front Row girls (and other less flattering names). So those that fight their way to the front may have their own agenda (which may be seen by some as selfish) but for those further back it must kind a spoil the show a little.

That said he handles it well and I did chuckle a bit. You can see why he has conflicting feeling of his fans and why he may think they're all a bit mad! Trouble is sometimes he laps it up and encourages it and other times he gets annoyed and lashes out.

I'm in a funny, reflective mood today and I'm kind of leaning towards blaming these women for David's lack of variety in his recent performances or his not taking a chance on something new. I think they overfeed his ego and may put others off attending more concerts.

Guess I sort of understand the reactions, not sure how I'd be if I actually saw him in the flesh, I pray I would be dignified!

Thoses were very interesting videos you've found. Check out all the different variations of Rock Me Baby!

Hi Daydreaming David! How are you? Thanks for visiting and commenting!!

He really nailed the “then” version, didn’t he? His voice sounds so great. I like the deepness of the “in between” version too though, even though it’s not on pitch all the time and his singing is not as articulate. But something weird is happening to me. I find myself responding to his voice as soon as I hear it – then, in between, no matter, I respond immediately. This is very obvious in the "in between" version where he's not singing all the time. He could be doing an interview, or singing a song I don’t even like, and I’d LIKE it, kwim? In the words of Rhett Butler to Scarlett, “Dare I name it? Can it be love?” LOL!!!

I guess I wouldn’t mind if he did the bra, panty, whatever thing once during the concert, or in between a few songs. I didn’t think the fact that he actually stopped during this song was such a bad thing since he had already done a lot of it and he was doing the handshaking thing anyway. I haven’t watched a lot of these live videos yet so I haven’t witnessed that many misbehaving fans. If you’ve got a few links handy showing this, I'm curious to see them.

Yes, I did notice that he wanted some fans to move back. It seems like they should try to manage themselves a little better, but maybe it’s harder than it looks, especially when the pressure is coming from behind. They’d have to cause a commotion just to get the people behind them to move back. I can also see how it’s just human nature to press closer without even realizing it. It seems to an extent it comes with the territory. And you’re right, some don’t seem to want to let go. It’s got to be hard. But again, I imagine all performers have to go through that, don’t you think?

I’ve often marveled at how well he always seems to handle those outstretched hands in the front. And I’m talking about then too. From all angles, those hands look dangerously close to you know what. LOL!!!! But I think it would be especially scary for him looking down at all them. I’m surprised he doesn’t need valium to go through the handshaking now that we know how terrified he can be of crowds.

I just did something pretty cool. It was a little tricky getting the timing right, but I played “then” and “in between” together. That really sounded phenomenal!!!!! I had to adjust a couple more times during the song a wee bit. But it got me thinking that it would be really interesting to hear him record WITH his “then” vocals. I think that would be an awesome sound. Ah!! Quivers!!! LOL!!!!

Thanks DD!!

My favorite version is, surprise, surprise, the THEN recorded version. I am so predictable.

I remember seeing that NOW clip on YouTube and cracking up. That said, if I had paid to see him perform here, I'd be royally pissed that some audience member thought throwing him her lingerie was just the thing to do in the middle of a song. When you take into account all the distractions he deals with, we have to give him props for being a good performer. He can certainly give as good as he gets. Anyone else notice how he gestures to some fans to move back? He is not a big man and I'm sure that so close to the crowd, it must get scary for him to see all those outstretched hands. One hard pull from a determined fanatic and he's lost his footing. When I watch these recent live clips, I often find there is a lack of respect on the part of some fans. It's as if they can't let go of him as their teen idol - enjoying his adult performance doesn't even seem to be on these fans' radar. Am I being too harsh?
