Day 18 of the 30-day Blogging Challenge
By Staingirl Elle
When Staingirl Kaye and I first embarked on our blogging journey, I envisioned us as the Oprahs of the blogosphere, teaching, entertaining and always opining on anything and everything that interests women “of a certain age”. Yes, this could occasionally include talking about guys and other issues that arise there. After all, Oprah does that. Little did I guess that staingirlz.com would become a David Cassidy lustfest. Kaye knows I don’t get this. After all, the older videos are of him at the age of my oldest son (Eww!), where he actually looks a little like a Girlyman. And the newer videos of the older David Cassidy… The man has aged nicely enough, but he’s no sex god.
Okay you Cassidy-ites, tone down the hate mail. And my dear progeny, don’t barf, and don’t hate on me. One time only, and for the sake of educating the Cassidy people, I am going to dedicate my post to a real sex god: Gilles Marini (otherwise known as Sexy Naked Neighbor from Sex and the City). Here is a man who knows how to move and really seduce a woman:
More importantly, Gilles Marini has the goods that go with the movements. I did not try to find a clip of Sexy Naked Guy because this is a family-friendly sight and kids don’t need to see full frontal nudity. But here’s a cute clip where he is causing quite a stir with the Walker family on Brothers & Sisters as the new French lover of one of the sisters. The goods (and I don’t mean the bulge) become more visible at the end of the clip:
Not surprising that the powers that be at Brothers & Sisters have extended his original five-episode contract with an additional four. Gilles Marini, there’s a young man not caught in a time warp that I can go cougar on without feeling like a pervert (David Cassidy, Seriously?)! Have at it Ladies, and easy on the hate mail.

Uh….Now that I’ve picked my jaw up off the floor, I have to say, that was quite a pleasure. WOW. I need a towel for my drool.
But Elle, come on now. Girlyman? Almost all young men had long hair back then. If you got to know him even just a little, you’d realize there’s absolutely NOTHING “girly” about him.
Hello Elle, I’m one of Staingirl Kaye’s partners in crime. Our crime being to objectify David, an expression used in that clip! Seems I’m not allowed to see the dancing clip but I like the view in the pool. Course, him being French is the icing on the cake. He IS hot for sure, so thanks for that. Funny, while watching that I kept wishing that was a young David Cassidy in the pool so there’s no hope for me. I must be into weedy guys. I haven’t come across Gilles Marini before so maybe I’ll take a look at Brothers and Sisters to see what I’m missing. That clip was very funny.
Forgot to say Elle that the problem is that he was etched into our brains/hearts when we were at a young and impressionable age. When we drool over him, we’re partly reverting to our teenaged selves, so I balance it out by admiring more recent images of him! I would have to admit, hand on heart, that David’s recent pictures do not equal those of Mr Marini, although David is still good looking to me. Of course, David’s exquisite voice plays a big part in all of it, including the sex-god part! You imagine that voice in your ear and your sanity and common sense flies out the window!
Dang, I couldn’t watch the first video because of country restrictions again! Thanks for the second video. Hilarious. I’ve never seen “Brothers & Sisters” before. Are all the men in that family gay? Funny dialogue. Yes, Gilles Marini has a great bod but we don’t see his eyes in the second clip and sex appeal is all in the eyes for me. Which is why David Cassidy had it in spades.
(You’re right, Elle, DC is no sex god now, which is why my blog focuses on his heyday sex appeal. I’m just a cougar looking for a time machine. And I’m okay with that.
Hey, if Gina Lollobrigida could lust after David Cassidy in his early twenties without feeling like a pervert, so can I!
)
Ditto what British fan said about David’s voice. Have you heard it??? That is one seriously sultry voice. David Cassidy doesn’t need no stinkin’ French accent to turn knees to jelly.
Thanks BF and DD!!! Very compelling arguments to even the most skeptical of David Cassidy’s sex appeal. But since Elle has a son the same age as David during his idol years, perhaps she will continue to be immune to his charms from that era.
But seriously, Elle, his voice. You did say you liked his songs back then, right? Can you not be swooned by hearing it now? Remember the first post I did: http://staingirlz.com/2009/10/27/david-cassidy-my-new-obsession/
I have to hold my hand up and admit my son has just turned 21. Mine’s away at University at the moment. He has very long hair, is very clever and a bit of a hippy. Does make looking at David seem a bit iffy at times but I’m reliving the past and enjoying myself. The kids don’t need me anymore and they say you revert back to childhood as you get older. So before I reach the ga ga having to wear a nappy stage, otherwise known as senile, I’ll enjoy my teens once again, if only briefly!
Hear, hear, British Fan!
Briefly? You think this blast from the past we’re enjoying will stop anytime soon, British fan? I can hear Clodyne laughing from here. She’s been at it, for what now, 3 years?
LOL!
OK, not briefly, then. If Clodyne can last 3 years and more then I guess I can! I spent several years into everything Harry Potter, as a kind of bonding thing with my daughter. We read the books together and saw all the films, couldn’t wait for the next book and all that. I shouldn’t really be into kids’ books but it was a phenomenon at the time!
I know a lot of adults who were into Harry Potter books. I’ve never read any but I did see the first movie and loved it. Rawling has a phenomenal talent to be able to write stories that enthrall generations like that.
Again, British Fan, you’re a woman after my own heart. Harry Potter. I too, listened to my kids discussing the books, saw the first movie with them, and then I wanted to be in on the whole thing as a way of bonding with them. But what happened was I ended up loving the whole series as much as they did. I think HP was responsible for catapulting my kid’s reading test scores ahead over 20%!!! I just love J. K. Rowling’s creativity. Admittedly, I’ve never been that big of a reader, but I thought those books were brilliant. I’ve already read them all twice, and will probably do so again and again. What did you think of HP and the Half Blood Prince movie. I was a little disappointed at first, but it grew on me. We actually even did a couple of posts on this: http://staingirlz.com/2009/07/20/go-ahead-and-hate-me-i-almost-didn%e2%80%99t-like-the-new-harry-potter-movie/
Kaye
Eeks. Rawling. What a typo. I usually check these things before posting. Sorry about that!
I haven’t seen Half Blood Prince yet but will buy and watch it on DVD. The reason being my daughter went to see it with friends and she wasn’t interested in going a second time. Usually she sees the films at least twice, once with friends and once with us. Course, you know how people were disappointed with some aspects of this film especially the film’s interpretation of the last chapters. That’s why I was a little hesitant about seeing it as I don’t want to be disappointed. I really loved the book and it is meant to be Snape’s story but apparantly he doesn’t get much of his story on screen. I love the actor who plays him, Alan Rickman. He says so much with just a look or gesture. It was my favourite book too.
Hey BF and all, Sorry that you and some of the others couldn’t see the first clip. Gilles was dancing the Rumba, a slow sensual dance, and his eyes sizzle sex. It was a running joke on the show that the other guys, including the professionals, couldn’t compete with Gille’s sexiness. But you must have it bad, if you were wishing it was young David in the pool. And yea, I do remember him as a kid, too – the Partridge Family was one of my fave shows. But, admittedly we moved away in 72, when I was young, and I my formative years were spent drooling over an older man, Rod Stewart.
DD, I love that expression, “a cougar looking for a time machine.” If it ever comes up anywhere in my future life, you’re on notice that I will also be using it, too cute! On B&S, one brother is gay, and he and his boyfriend were there. Two are straight. 1 wasn’t there, the other one was the one complaining about objectification. The old man just came out of the closet – he’s their uncle. And yes, it is a fun show. Obviously, the lives have been glammed up and hollywoodized, but the underly interaction between the sibs is similar to a typical family.
RE: Harry Potter, I am an avid reader, but for whatever reason, it took me weeks to read the first book, vs. my 3 kids who finished the last abook within 48 hours (and I mean one book passed around over a 48 hour period. So I never read the remaining books, but thoroughly loved the movies. I was less into the last one for the reason I stated in an earlier post.
His eyes sizzle sex?! I will hunt down that first clip – there must a version of it somewhere that I can view in The Great White North. Elle, thanks for the info on the Brothers and Sisters characters – sounds like a good show and I love Sally Field. So PF was one of your favorite shows, but what about young David Cassidy’s voice? Dare you admit that it’s swoon-worthy? Be honest. Would you rather hear Rod Stewart’s voice or David Cassidy’s come pillow talk time?
DD, yes, he’s got some eyes, but I still prefer our David’s! Please, if you find a link you can view, would you post it here? Thanks! It is a very hot dance. Donny’s was good, but I think this was better. This guy’s body is very pliable. Is that typical of a rumba, Elle, to end up in that position???
Yes, Elle, you didn’t answer our very pointed questions about his voice. What do you think, dear friend? Can you imagine him lying next to you singing, “Ellllllle, what woman you are…”
That Brothers and Sisters show does sound very entertaining.
Yes, British Fan, I do love the way Alan Rickman plays Snape. I actually think he’s sexy. OK, I think all guys are sexy practically in one way or another. But yes, his expressions and tone of voice on his spare words speak volumes.
Aw Clodyne, we’ve missed you today!!!
Gilles and Cheryl doing their rumba on YouTube. Nope, Mr. Marini is not doing it for me. Not pretty enough and “Sexual Healing” has always made me laugh out loud. For a Latin lover, I’ll take Cristian de la Fuente, if you please, thank you very much. This video skips but I had a hard time finding one of good quality.
OK, He’s hot too!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Elle, what do you think????
Thanks for posting that link DD!!
Kaye
[...] David Cassidy? Try Real Man Gilles Marini [...]
RE: DC’s voice I actually like old DC’s voice better than young “girlyman” DC’s voice. I’m sorry did not float my boat.
DD, how could you not love Gilles’s smouldering manly sexuality – “not pretty enough” – hrmmph! But i have to agree “Sexual Healing is cheesy”
And Cristian de la Fuente is hot too – he was another one who did well on DWTS, but I don’t remember whether he made it to the finals.
Kaye, I forgot to mention in my last comment on your latest post, dance is fab exercise, and the local rec center provides salsa and other forms fairly inexpensive. Maybe we should go, can’t drag the ole ball & chain w/ me.
And now I have a question for all of you: I’ve noticed that your comments are on all times of day or night. Do y’all ever sleep or work?
Ouch!!! DD are you going to let her get away with that comment?!! LOL!!!
I have a lot of hours to make up, I confess. Today and tomorrow will be long days. And yes, I’m a little short on sleep. But…it’s your fault Elle because of this blogging challenge. LOL!!!! Just kidding.
I’d love to do the dance lessons at the rec center with you Elle, maybe next summer. LOL!!! I’m serious though. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.
With that, I guess I’d better get to work. I’ll check in later. Have a great day!!!
I don’t work. Home with my pre-schooler. That might explain the renewed interest in David Cassidy, huh? And I suffer from all sorts of insomnia-causing disorders. There are worse sites I could spend my time on than this blog.
I don’t watch DWTS so I didn’t even know that Mr. de la Fuente was on it! From what I understand, he injured his bicep and had to drop out of the competition. I spotted him for the first time on “Family Law” years ago and now I enjoy him on “In Plain Sight”. He’s my kind of eye candy. Oliver Martinez in “Unfaithful” with Diane Lane is another sweet piece. He should come with a flammable warning.
How I objectify these poor men! Tsk, tsk.
Thanks DD for your links to Dancing with the Stars. I agree they’re both hot. We don’t seem to have such hot guys on our version Strictly Come Dancing. Maybe its our English reserve again, the dancing doesn’t seem so sexual in UK.
David’s voice girly Elle, tut tut! DD help us here. Check out his vocals on This Could Be The Night, Mae, Fever, My First Night Alone Without You and Tomorrow, then tell me his voice isn’t sexy!.
Oh DD you must be the baby of our group with your pre-schooler. I remember when mine were that age I was drooling over Andre Agassi and Michael Stich. Must have had a leg fetish back then! You definitely need a bit of fantasy in your life to get through those early years. Make the most of every minute. They grow up SO fast.
Don’t you all wish you had the body of a dancer? That’s reason enough for doing it and practicing.
Here is a clip to let you know that Gilles Marini’s eyes do sizzle. Hold onto your hats and whatever else is going to fly off ladies.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tAoyeRg0VE
OMG, loryanna, that is a GREAT video!!! Thanks for that! I cannot close my mouth. LOL!!!!
I’m sorry it took me so long to approve you for your first comment. Any future posts will post immediately.
Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you back here soon. Are you a David Cassidy fan as well?
Kaye
Seriously?! OMG, is taste ever subjective. I’m sorry, I’m looking at Mr. Marini posing and I can practically hear him ticking off his to-do list in his mind. He looks bored out of his skull. He has got a great bod, I will give you that – could work on his pecs a bit more but I quibble – but honestly, I don’t see the sex in his eyes. I definitely don’t see it in the last posed pic. There he looks dumbstruck.
Thanks for this Loryanna, you’ve given me a challenge now
I’m off to hunt down pics of men with sex in their eyes – lol! BTW, love the expression “hold onto your hats and whatever else is going to fly off”. Never heard it before.
British fan, I know what you mean about Elle. I doubt she’s listened to young David’s voice recently. Notice how she says “DID not float my boat”. Past tense.
[...] in questioning my chosen blog topic: David Cassidy’s sex appeal. In a comment to Elle’s David Cassidy? Try Real Man Gilles Marini post, she claimed that David Cassidy’s “then” voice never “did float her boat.” [...]
I finally got my next post out today: http://staingirlz.com/2009/11/14/david-cassidy-tomorrow-in-answer-to-rod-stewart/. Gosh, my brain is like sludge this morning. Thanks British Fan for those smoky David vocal suggestions.
Daydreaming David, I wonder if we’ll ever find anyone with “sex in their eyes” like David.
