Oh I think it's a big dilemma for celebrities. Some stop signing altogether dont they? It must be hard. From the fans perspective its very important to them and they're just asking that once. From the other side (David's for example) it happens contstantly. Where do you stop?
As for the giving things to be signed backstage. That's tricky. I bet sometimes the star (David in this case) doesn't even get given it even though the representative might promise the fan that they will get the star to sign it. I know of celebrities in this country who get fans coming up to them in restaurants whenthey're trying to eat, asking for autographs. Sometimes the fans can be thoughtless and a little demanding. There should be some kind of etiquette (sp) that fans comply to, like only asking for an autograph once and not trying to get many things signed over a period of years and only asking at appropriate times and places.

Hi British Fan, Yes, that was me. Sorry...was I bit harsh on our David? :-) I know what you mean about all that stuff. I was thinking that too. But they accepted it saying that he would sign and send it back, etc. I don't really know what the answer is but I'm thinking he should have been more up front about not being able to sign everything and not taken it in the first place. And then the gifts that people sent him...that's a tough one. He could be upfront about that too. Or said something like, if you want to send me a gift, please instead donate it in my name to... It amazes me to hear of people saying to him "Did you get my email?", etc. There's no way he can keep track of all that. I guess it's natural for people to feel like they could have a connection with him. But the celebrity status is an unnatural circumstance. I think that's got to be tough for celebrities. There just seems to be a more dignified way to handle it. Still, his way is probably not that out of the ordinary either.

I'm not big on that stuff either. I'd rather have a good memory with some good friends and some good pictures/video to capture it than anything else. I actually would feel very indulgent to ask him to sign something. Some people say that he could have just signed it in the time it took to say no. But ... can you imagine having to sign your name 100,000+ times??????? That's absurd. But I would bet he's at least done it tens of thousands of times.

What do you think?

I know what you mean about the No bridge video. He’s oh so lovely. ;-)

David looks and sounds so gorgeous on the No Bridge video. It would be perfect if the light wasn't over-exposed on his face and obscuring his lovely features. He's just beautiful at this age.

Singme, I'm assuming that it's you who posted on thecomgethappy site under Daidy's post. He is a bit cheeky if he is putting gifts or things to sign given to him up for auction. However he must get so much stuff given to him, what is he to do with it all? Some of the money may be going to the kids charity or for the horses welfare. I do understand fans' need to want things signed but he must be bombarded with it. Funny, cos that sort of thing doesn't interest me. I don't want an autograph or even a photo with him. I don't need it. Seeing David perform would be enough for me. I could live on the memories of that.
