David Cassidy: Darling Live

Day 29 of the 30-day Blogging Challenge

By Staingirl Kaye

Oh!!!! I can’t believe this is my last post here on Staingirlz.com about David. It has been such great fun for me!!! Thank you so much for joining me. I will be creating a new blog to post those new things I come across that I want to share, but probably not for a week or two at least. Elle and I also have to focus on our chosen niche for Staingirlz. :-)

First of all, here is something for Elle to chew on (thank you, thank you, Daydreaming David!!!!). Warning: This is not to be viewed by those under 17:

LOL!!!!! Now we don’t look so bad, do we Elle?

And now for my final Staingirlz David post…

I’m not sure how much you’re going to like this video. I hope it’s not too anticlimactic. ;-) The quality is not good at all and it’s David blond. It was filmed in London at Royal Albert Hall in 1986. But, I think there are several things to LOVE about this video. Despite the blond hair, I think he looks delish here with his sweet dimpled smile and his adorable outfit. He’s very energetic and looks like he’s having a great time dancin’ and shakin’ that gorgeous booty, singin’ his precious heart out, growlin’ out “C’Mon Darlin’.” I think his vocals here are in top form. Just awesome!!! I’d love to see him do this again live. Watching this always puts a smile on my face. ;-)

Thank you dcfanuk on YouTube:

Darlin’

Written By – B. Wilson, M. Love

Ohh keep dreamin’ about darlin’
Ohh, my darlin’ you’re so fine
Ohhhh-hhh-hhh

Don’t know if words can say
But darlin’ I’ll find a way
To let you know what you meant to me
Guess it was meant to be
I hold you in my heart
As life’s most precious part

Oh darlin’
I dream about you often my pretty darlin’
Darlin’ you’re so fine
I love the way you soften my life with your love
Your precious love uh huh oh

I was living like half a man
Then I couldn’t love but now I can
You pick me up when I’m feeling sad
More soul than I ever had
Gonna love you every single night
Cause I think you’re too outta sight

Oh darlin’
I dream you often my pretty darlin’
Darlin’ you’re so fine
I love the way soften my life with your love
Your precious love uh huh huh

Woah oh oh oh

Every night darlin’
Gonna love you every single night, yes I will
Cause I think you’re too doggone outta sight

Oh darlin’
I dream you often my pretty darlin’
Darlin’ you’re so fine
I love the way soften my life with your love
Your precious love uh huh huh
Oh

  • K, um, you might want to have a warning about the adult content of the first video? I’m not offended, I’m just thinking of the progeny reading this…The bleeps don’t cover every word and Ms Leachman’s actions could be disconcerting to some?

LOVE DC’s version of Darlin’ but have trouble watching this concert clip. He just looks SO different – I really have trouble getting over it.

Looking forward to the new incarnation of your blog.

Good point, DD. What am I thinking??? Thanks!

  • staingirl kaye

That’s so funny about “getting over” his look. I think he looks gorgeous here despite the blond hair, the best I’ve seen him look blond. I just love the “way” he is here too. A great fun and youthful performance. :-)

Hey Kaye. Been out all day so now I’m having some ‘me’ time. Thanks for posting the first video (thanks DD). I am crying with laughter. Nice to see Shirley shed her image. Wish David would do something like that! Oh my God! When Shirley says I wanna **** that so bad. LOL! I think that every time I look at David Cassidy.

I love Cloris Leachman. She does it for the old folks. I loved her in Malcolm in the Middle. She played Malcolm’s gran and Lois’s mum. She was hilarious in that. Love her dark humour. She’s wonderful and sheds the stereotype. We don’t get this show, wish we did. I’m still laughing!

Now to David! They made his face look orange and yellow.LOL! I’ll forget the hair, the performance was great. Very energetic. Only just noticed he went through an earring phase. He’s rockin’ well and his face sure lights up. He’s enjoying it. Lurve Darlin so much and this version is great.

Thank you so much for all the blogs on David, Kaye. We’ve had such fun and it was definitely a good idea. Love you for doing it and finding such wonderful videos of David.

That Shirley/Cloris thing is a gag isn’t it? Very funny.

Who is this Jimmy Kimmel guy? Does he do this kind of thing often? Love it. They’re good sports.

  • BF, a little education on Americana. Jimmy Kimmel is a late night talk show host in here in the U.S. He does these skits all the time. I’m attaching a link to a particularly funny, and somewhat long one. JK used to date sarah Silverman. While they were dating she made a funny video that she was f***ing Matt Damon. He then retaliated with a video about himself and Ben Afflek, who is MD’s best friend, and in the end all sorts of celebrities join in the song, not claiming that they were doing anything. If you don’t mind a little profanity, check this out:

Cloris Leachman is a hoot. She was a bit of cougar when she was on dancing with the stars. She made the crassest male comedians blush, when I saw her on some roast.

Hope you enjoy the Jimmy Kimmel link.

    Thanks Elle!!! That is hysterical.

That guy Cloris is on is hot!!! Yeah!!!!

Wonderful! Thank you so much Elle. It is so funny. I love this kind of humour and it’s great to see respected actors having such fun with it all.

Agree with you Kaye, the guy is hot!!

US tv is the best, no contest. I showed this to hubby and he has tears in his eyes!
Thanks for all the fun and laughs girls.

Thank YOU, British Fan!!! That is so perfect for Matt Damon because he is always saying f***in’ this and f***in’ that!! Have you seen that? I wonder if that is why they thought of this skit. LOL!!!!

Here’s something that looks like it predated the I’m F***ing Matt Damon clip (with Matt Damon):

Sorry Matt, we’re out of time

And Elle, did you see what Matt had to say about Sarah Palin before the election?

  • staingirl kaye

Deep breath!!! Oh, Clodyne, thank you. You know, I have never even liked David blond that much, but I sure do like him here. What great shots you have!!! British Fan, there are definitely some public health alert shots on her website. PLUS, she has shots of him in concert in 1991. !!!!!

  • British fan

Woohoo! I’ll check them out tomorrow.

  • staingirl kaye

Also British Fan, I posted another Cloris Leachman link in the comment to End of the 30-day Blogging Challenge where she kisses, and I mean reeeeeally kisses the talk show host. Whew!!! I think that would be fun for you to check out!!! :-)

1985 was The Royal Albert Hall concert, it was the last concert on his 1985 British Tour. I and friends flew over to see a week’s worth of concerts on that tour. This is the David I love. The blonde hair was so usual to us back then since he had it for a couple of years. This was my totally favorite time of seeing David. I didn’t go back to the UK for the RAH concert, but friends of mine did and then came the release of the VHS in 1986 by Starblend along with the live lp. You can probably find the VHS on ebay if you look. It was in the European PAL system then, so I had to have the tape converted to the Amer NTSC system to watch on TV here. Again, this was such a great time!! If I could use a time machine, I would!

  • Barbara

Oh and a lot of fans also swooned over Keith Atack, in David’s band. He was a cutie too!!

  • staingirl kaye

    Hi Barbara,

Sorry to be slow to respond to you. We have comment moderation on for first time posters.

Thanks so much for this information!!! I just went out to ebay to see if his 1985 British Tour video was for sale and I didn’t see anything. Perhaps I’m not searching properly? I would LOVE to get my hands on this!!!! I did find a live 1986 CD for sale which I’m going to try to buy. I love David’s voice live. If I had to choose my favorite studio recording with a random live recording, I think I would always pick the live recording.

I did notice Keith Atack. LOL!!! Also very cute!!

I attempted to start a new blog for David lusting last weekend, but I think because I used the same name for the new google account I created as I have for my YouTube account (singmedavid), I could no longer log into my YouTube account!!!! So…I just deleted the google blog and account and I’ll try again the next time I find a video to lust over. LOL!!! Would it be OK to email you to let you know when I have successfully created that blog?

Are you the Barbara who comments on Daydreaming David’s site? Just curious. You seem as knowledgeable and that seems pretty rare.

Thanks for visiting and for this great information!!!

    Kaye

  • [...] I just love older ladies with a sense of humor. Remember how much we enjoyed Cloris Leachman in the Cougar Town spoof? I think Betty White outdid Cloris and herself in her recent stint on Saturday Night [...]

  • Peacenikchick

I must admit I’m a little shocked hearing shirley say F**k S**t and @$$. . . However, it was a very funny video! LOL

  • staingirl kaye

LOL! I roared when I first saw this. Glad you enjoyed it!
